Youth Program Facilitator
(1 position available – 25-30 hours/week – will remain open until suitable candidate is found)
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Youth Program Facilitator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing program operations, ensuring effective implementation, and fostering an engaging learning environment. This position requires strong leadership and organizational skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. The Program Facilitator will be responsible for the safe, effective service delivery of our structured, after-school drop-in program for youth aged 6-14, and on occasion, assist with the delivery of additional programming for young people aged 6-25.
Responsibilities
- Deliver BBBSGP group mentoring programming during the after-school program or other non-instructional days/times as required. This will also require assisting the Group Program Coordinator with the development and implementation of appropriate activities that promote learning and resilience in young people.
- Supervise youth program assistants and/or volunteers, providing guidance and support to ensure successful program delivery.
- Collect and maintain accurate data related to program outcomes, providing insights for continuous improvement and perform other administrative tasks (such as preparing reports) as needed.
- Assist with recruitment efforts for program participants, including outreach and engagement activities while identifying, addressing and working with other staff to resolve barriers in programming.
- Provide an article in our monthly newsletter with information about the after-school program.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and privacy for the families and youth we serve while building strong, positive relationships with them.
- Teach workshops or sessions as needed, adapting content to meet the needs of various audiences.
- Participate in ongoing training related to youth development, safety and program delivery.
- General cleaning and duties as needed.
- Maintain a positive, effective working relationship with the entire BBBSGP team.
- Assist in other areas, as needed – including, but not limited to fundraising events.
Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent; and minimum 2-year diploma relevant to social/youth work.
- Proven experience in supervising teams or programs is preferred.
- Reliable transportation required; valid driver’s license preferred.
- Exceptional leadership, organizational and communication abilities, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Experience in data collection methods and analysis for program evaluation purposes.
- Must provide Criminal Record check with Vulnerable Sector, and Child Intervention check prior to commencement of employment.
- CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.

Youth Program Assistant
(2 positions available – each 15-20 hours/week – will remain open until suitable candidates are found)
The Child and Youth Program Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the development and implementation of our after-school program for youth aged 6-14, reporting to the Youth Program Facilitator. This position requires a dynamic individual who is passionate about working with young people, and who is looking for casual/part-time work between the hours of 2pm – 7pm. The ideal candidate will be responsible for facilitating engaging activities, supervising participants, and collaborating with team members to ensure a positive experience for all involved.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the delivery, organization, and execution of after-school/evening programs for young people and be available for non-instructional days as required.
- Supervise participants during activities to ensure safety and engagement.
- Facilitate workshops and presentations, utilizing strong public speaking skills.
- Assist with data collection related to program effectiveness and participant feedback.
- Encourage youth participation and engagement in programs while monitoring youth behaviour, safety and well-being, and reporting any concerns to supervisor.
- Teach skills or concepts relevant to program objectives, fostering a learning environment.
- Participate in ongoing training related to youth development, safety and program delivery.
- General daily cleaning and duties.
- Assist in other areas, as needed – including, but not limited to fundraising events.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and privacy for the families and youth we serve.
Experience
- Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent; with Child/Youth worker certification preferred.
- Prior experience working in youth programs or similar settings is preferred.
- Experience and desire to work with children while having the ability to relate to youth and adults, adapt to change and work as a positive team member.
- Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow program plans and adapt as needed.
- Understanding of child safety, positive youth development and inclusion.
- Criminal Record check with Vulnerable Sector and Child Intervention check.
- CPR/First Aid, or willingness to obtain.
