One to One Mentoring

Big Brother Program

Mentee Age: 6-16 years old
Time Commitment: 2 years
Availability: Grande Prairie

The Big Brother mentoring program provides young males with a positive, adult role model to talk to and share the experiences of growing up with. Through regular outings, a relationship is developed between the mentor and the mentee, which is built on trust and common interests and is supported by our experienced case workers. The result is a life-changing experience for both the mentor and the mentee.

The Big Brother Program requires a minimum commitment of 4 hours per month spent with your Little Brother.

PRISM Program

PRISM Program (Pride, Respect, Identity, Safety, Mentoring)

Mentee Age: 6-24 years old
Time Commitment: 1-2 years
Availability: Grande Prairie

PRISM mentoring connects mentors and young people from the LGBTQ2S+ community. These mentoring relationships help young people to achieve goals, overcome challenges and try new things. A mentor understands the adversity faced by LGBTQ2S+ young people, supports the mentee and celebrates who they are.

This program is a fit for you if you can express care, challenge growth, provide support, share power, affirm their identity and expand possibilities.

In-School Mentoring Program

In-School

Mentee Age: 6-12 years old
Time Commitment: 1 year
Availability: Grande Prairie

The In-School mentoring program provides children and youth aged 6-12 with a role model and friend to talk to and share the experiences of growing up. Mentors meet with their mentee for one hour, once a week for the duration of the school year.  Matches are typically free to utilize space within the school identified to them by program and school staff.

Matches do not meet over the summer break or during other school holidays.

Group

Big Bunch

Big Bunch is a program that BBBSGP hosts every other month for ALL program participants, including youth and mentors on our waitlist and our Big/Little matches!  We let our participants know about upcoming Big Bunch events through our monthly newsletters.  Activities have included things such as sledding days, laser tag, bowling, holiday parties, mini golf and more!

Registration is always required.

Go Girls! Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds!

Go Girls! is a group mentoring program for girls ages 10-14 that focuses on physical activity, balanced eating, and self-esteem. The single, most important goal of the program is to positively shape the lives of young women and girls by helping them build a positive self-image – setting them on a path to reach their full potential in life.

The Go Girls! program consists of seven mentoring sessions, typically held over 7 weeks, within school facilities, after school hours. Each 1- 1.5 hour-long session is coordinated around the following themes: physical activity, healthy eating, positive mental health, self-esteem, leadership, and communication skills.

Game On! Eat Smart, Play Smart!

Game On! is a group mentoring program for providing boys and young men ages 10-14 with information and support to make informed choices about a range of healthy lifestyle practices.

Game On! consists of seven mentoring sessions, typically held over 7 weeks within school facilities, either during school or after school hours. Each 1-1.5 hour-long session is coordinated around these themes: physical activity, healthy eating, positive mental health, self-esteem, leadership, and communication skills.

All BBBS participants, regardless of age, are welcome to join us for our weekly drop-in nights.  Youth under the age of 12 years MUST be accompanied by their mentor or parent/guardian.

Private Booking Request – The Healing Community Hub!

Book The Healing Community Hub for your private event!

Group bookings $50/hr. for up to 3 hours. Each additional hour is $75/hr. If you would like to book The Hub for longer than 3 hours, please let us know in the comments section of the request to book form.

Once you have found a time and space available for your booking request, we will contact you to confirm your booking details and for payment!

All participants/visitors of The Healing Community Hub will be required to sign a waiver form, available on our website.

Registered Non-Profits receive a discounted rate – please email us for inquiries.
